This is a fine review of Susan B. Anthony's long efforts for voting rights. She is among those on an extensive list of historical figures who were jailed for what eventually - due to their efforts - became not only accepted policy but policy that made many wonder: What took so long and what we were thinking back then?

I'm reminded of the observation (Was it G.B. Shaw?): "Reasonable people try to adapt themselves to the world; unreasonable people try to adapt the world to themselves. Therefore all progress depends on unreasonable people." Susan B. Anthony was undoubtedly among the latter.
